Soggiorno linguistico in Irlanda - settembre 2025

Un gruppo di studenti del nostro istituto ha trascorso un periodo di soggiorno linguistico a Malahide, in Irlanda. Ecco il racconto della loro esperienza.

From 7 to 14 September, we took part in a study trip to Malahide, Ireland, an experience that combined language learning, cultural discovery, and personal growth.

Arrival and Host Families

After landing in Dublin, a coach took us to Malahide, where our host families were waiting. From the very beginning, they welcomed us warmly and made us feel at home, showing us true Irish hospitality. Living with them for a week was an important part of our journey, as it allowed us to experience Irish daily life and traditions first-hand.

School and Lessons

Every afternoon we attended lessons at the Irish College of English. Divided by level, we worked with qualified teachers who encouraged us through interactive and engaging activities. The lessons helped us to improve our English, gain confidence in speaking, and meet new friends from other schools.

Activities and Excursions

In the mornings we took part in cultural visits and excursions that allowed us to discover Ireland’s history, landscapes, and culture:

Dublin, visited several times, with its lively streets, shops, and Viking past.

Malahide Castle, where we learned legends, visited the butterfly greenhouse, and walked through its beautiful gardens.

Howth Cliffs, where the strong wind and long walk were rewarded with breathtaking views and the sight of seals in the harbour.

Glendalough, with its monastic site and wonderful natural setting.

The National Gallery of Ireland, where we took part in a creative challenge, recreating famous paintings in a fun and educational way.

Transportation was well-organized: we mainly used coaches, but also trains and trams to move around Dublin, making travel comfortable and efficient.

Daily Life and Food

Meals with host families varied, and although some of us  found the food repetitive at times, everyone agreed it was part of the authentic experience. Sharing daily routines with families and adapting to new habits helped us become more independent and flexible.

A Valuable Experience

Beyond the lessons and excursions, this trip gave us much more: it was a chance to grow, to step out of our comfort zones, and to strengthen the bonds within our classes. We learned how to manage in a new country, how to communicate across cultures, and how to live fully immersed in English every day.

Students’ Voices

“Unforgettable, because speaking in English all the time made us live like locals.”

“A little scary at first, but then it turned into a wonderful experience.”

“A fun adventure that helped me improve my English and discover beautiful landscapes.”

“An experience that made our group more united and confident.”

Conclusion

The study trip to Malahide was not only an opportunity to learn English, but also a journey of discovery, friendship, and personal growth. We returned home with new skills, unforgettable memories, and the feeling of having left a piece of our hearts in Ireland.
